The Calzone That Ate Milwaukee

It is still looking so dark and dreary outside today.

But the one of the best ways to spend a rainy day is to try a new recipe! We had a mix of stuff in the fridge, and when I last went to Trader Joe’s I picked up one of their Garlic and Herb pizza doughs. After carefully considering his options, Nolan decided he was going to make an intense calzone. And he did.

I’m going to give everyone a second to take this all in. It’s a lot to handle.

Nolan’s Calzone:

  • Spicy BBQ chicken
  • Onions
  • Peppers
  • Jalapenos
  • Marinara sauce
  • Fat free ranch
  • Reduced fat cheese
  • Hot Sauce

I feel like I say this a lot but once again, it’s not pretty but its delicious.

FUN FACT: Nolan had a concussion when he was like 5 that left him with no sense of smell. That’s right, he can’t smell a thing. One thing that people ask him all the time (which he hates) is “if you can’t smell can you taste?”

The answer to this question is yes! In fact, I am a firm believer that his taste buds have actually mutated and are heightened. He is unbelievable when it comes to mixing ingredients and flavors. (I am marrying him for his cooking abilities 🙂 )

The sweetness of the BBQ sauce and peppers balanced perfectly with the spicy jalapenos and hot sauce.

He’s so proud of his creations.

Pizzas and calzones are so fun to make because you can pretty much throw in whatever you want! Remember our Must Go Pizza?  It’s perfect for getting rid of leftovers.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

  1. The weather is awful here too! LOVE Trader’s Joe’s! So many great finds. When I could have pizza I loved margherita pies with fresh mozz and basil or mushroom. 🙂

What do you think?
